Tip: Removing the seats will make installation easier.
Installing the Frame-Mounted Ball Stud
Trim the door hinge templates with a straight edge and X-Acto knife. There is a driver’s side and passenger side template — trim accurately for correct fit.
With “DRIVER’S SIDE” and “PASSENGER SIDE” text facing you, fold the top rectangle section away from you. Set aside for later.
Remove the leather door limit strap bracket from the 2" vertical frame in the foot box.
Place the rectangle section of the template on the front/vertical surface of the 2" horizontal frame tube.
Align the fold line with the bottom of the 2" horizontal frame tube.
Move the template left or right until the lower section just brushes the vertical 2" frame tube. This indicates correct position.
Once positioned, tape the top rectangle section to the horizontal 2" frame tube.
Fold back the template until it is flat on the underside of the 2" horizontal frame tube.
Use the template’s hole location to center punch your mark.
Drill a small starter hole (1/8").
Drill the full-size hole with the supplied 17/64" bit.
Tap the hole with the supplied 5/16-18 tap, using cutting fluid.
 Clean the tapped hole.
Install the supplied spacer and the 3/4" long ball stud. Tighten securely.
Reinstall the door limit strap bracket to the 2" vertical frame tube.
Repeat steps 2–15 for the other side.
Installing the Door Hinge Bracket
Remove the leather door limit strap bracket from the door hinge.
Place the supplied door bracket on the back side of the door hinge bracket.
Insert the supplied #10-32 button head bolts through the door limit strap bracket, door hinge bracket, and the door kit bracket.
Secure with the supplied #10-32 jam nuts. Tighten securely.
Installing and Adjusting the Door Kit Bracket Ball Stud
Install the 1/2" long ball stud toward the outside of the car for initial installation. You can adjust later for optimal performance.
Secure the ball stud with the supplied 5/16-18 jam nut.
Attach the cylinder end of the gas strut to the ball stud on the underside of the 2" frame tube.
Attach the other end of the gas strut to the ball stud on the door kit bracket.
Close the door and check that 5/8"–3/4" of the gas strut shaft is visible when closed.
Your Roadster Door Kit is now installed.
Release your door hinge latch — the door should open automatically. Adjust the OEM door hinge bolts/nuts if needed for smooth swing without bounce.
If the final open position isn’t ideal, adjust the door kit bracket ball stud toward the center of the car in small increments until perfect.
